who is Per Louar
Per Louar is a Norwegian painter working primarily in oil and encaustic. His paintings emerge from sustained, physical engagement with surface — layers built and scraped away over weeks or months until an image reluctantly reveals itself.
Born in Trondheim (1981), Louar studied at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts before living and working in Berlin and Amsterdam. He returned to Norway in 2015 and now maintains a studio in Grünerløkka.
His work has been collected by institutions across Scandinavia and acquired for private collections in Europe and the United States.
